Daniel Bolick

Daniel Bolick is a Pittsburgh artist who gets his inspiration from innocent suspects who were falsely accused and put on death row. All of these suspects were eventually found innocent; some after an unfortunately long time. Daniel captures these poor soul’s experiences within each of his huge paintings and his emotional sketches.

His thoughts, art, and stories provoke me to believe the US must reevaluate its judicial and criminal justice system.  It is unacceptable to know so many innocent people suffer in jail, leaving their families alone.  It saddens me, but inspires me to change our system as well.  I know much can be reformed in our criminal justice system along the lines of death row.  We must change how easy it is to be placed on death row.  There must be more conclusive evidence and possibly a confession; otherwise, we just end up ruining lives.  I accept that sometimes mistakes happen and they are made to prevent further violence from occuring, but there is clearly something that can be done to minimize false prosecutions.
